Established on August 13, 2005, our association was created for umpires ('Members') who have umpired any Western Regional tournaments and Contributors ('At Large'). Our mission is to further the development of the Little League Baseball & Softball program by helping volunteer umpires in their efforts to better serve the youth in the program.
We can't accomplish our mission without the support of our members and the general public. To further that mission we are organized as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization providing an opportunity to those who can to make a tax deductible donation. Please contact any Board Member for more information on how to contribute.
We encourage all who visit to surf through the site; we will be adding information to the site continually. We invite you to bookmark the site and come back often!

A Message from Dennis Williams
A note to my Northwest, Mountain and West Region Little League compadres:
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dennis Williams and I am your new West Region Umpire-in-Chief. I live in Seattle, Washington with my wife of 29 years, Shawna. We have 3 boys and 2 girls, of which 2 of the boys are inherited. And as of three months ago, we now have 4 grandchildren. We are so very blessed.
We started our Little League adventure in 1994 and like so many, we fell in love with the program and wanted to learn how we could do more to contribute. It didn’t take long for me to begin coaching and umpiring in our local league. I soon became the umpire-in-chief. I attended my first week-long academy in 2003 and I still remember what it felt like to be such a sponge. I also remember hitting that ‘wall’ on day four. I couldn’t get enough and decided to return as a student to the week-long academy in 2009, where I was asked to hang up my student hat and put on an instructor hat. *Insert happy tears here* To follow, I became the district umpire-in-chief and Washington State Umpire Consultant.
Outside of umpiring, I love to salmon fish, flyfish and go crabbing in the Pacific Northwest waters of the Puget Sound. Shawna and I enjoy live music, spending time boating in the San Juan Islands, hanging out with our children and taking our grandchildren on weekend trips to the ocean.
Umpiring and teaching umpires is a big part of my life. Some of my best friends have come from the Little League program, for which I am grateful.
To know me is to understand how deeply honored I am to have been asked to take on the role of West Region Umpire-in-Chief. Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming …WOW. I’m nervous, I’ll admit it. I am also extremely excited to take on this role. Let’s continue to work and play and show the world how we are making this Region the best it can possibly be - TOGETHER.
My phone is on. My door is open. Let’s do this.

Thanks from Mark Bernstein
Blessed, honored, humbled….
A huge thank you to all for the heartfelt words, cards, the honors, gifts and recognition as I walk away as the WRUIC. I am incredibly excited to see what the future has to offer under the leadership of Dennis Williams and his team.
Speaking of the future, the West just completed two ID Camps where we evaluated 70 umpires who aspire for selections to the LL Regionals and World Series’ for baseball and softball. It was evident that training, hardworking and dedication are surely differentiators. A couple of other Regions will be conducting ID Camps in the near future and then the attendees will be calibrated. If you would like to be considered for an invitation in the future please reach out to Dennis Williams.
I know Dennis is looking to establish clinic dates for 2024 so keep an eye out. Those already attending the November Academy enjoy, work hard and “don’t let perfect get in the way of better.”
Always Working,
Mark Bernstein
